Toys in the 80s
Toys in the 80s have to include The Smurfs. They spawn a tidal wave of cute clones: Monchichis, Snorks, Popples, etc. Rainbow Brite and My Little Pony fly high, Jem steals some of Barbie’s thunder, He-Man leads the Masters of the Universe to victory, and Transformers prove there’s “more than meets the eye.” Rubik’s Cubes give smart kids their day in the spotlight, while Cabbage Patch Kids reduce grown men and women to savage shopping mall beasts. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles make Cowabunga a household word, and G.I. Joe is repurposed for the 80’s as a “Real American Hero.” Nintendo brings home video games back from the grave, then shrinks them down to hand-held Game Boy size at the decade’s end.

  1. What about Bigtrack
I use to love my Big track it would deliver a apple to my dad in the front room lol
Brilliant selection of 80s toys that we all remember and love

    Thanks

  2. Can someone contact me urgently please. I’m a Producer on BBCWM (Local Radio Staion in The West Midlands) We are doing a feature today (Thursday 3rd October) on 80’s Retro Toys-I would love someone from Skooldays to come on air and and have a brief chat with my Presenter this afternoon. Can someone please call me asap 0n 0121 567 6044

  3. Looking for toy from the 80’s or 90’s I loved playing with my daughter. It’s a smaller version of the Whac-A-Mole game at Chuck-E-Cheese. It had several heads that popped-up that you hit with a mallet. Need name and maker, please. I think it was a great hand and eye coordination game. I see the Hasbro Whac-A-Mole toy but that’s not it.

  4. Love the site brings back so many memories!! I’m looking for a doll from late 80’s. She had a peach outfit with stars if I recall correctly, she also had a necklace that lit up. She almost looked like the Mario toadstool princess. Any help would be appreciated.

  5. I loved looking at the games I once played with but I’m looking for the name of a quiz game. It contained several books, all white, in different subjects like general knowledge and a small blue calculator shaped answer machine. You entered the book number and question number then the answer. It would tell you your score at the end. I ask this as my daughters class has been looking back at what their parents did as children. It’s one game that has stuck in my mind for all these years. If anyone has a clue what I’m gabbling about, you would make my day if you could tell me what it was called.

  6. I was born in 1976. As a kid my dad got me a set of six toy cars, not sure the brand. But there was a golden chevorlette corvette, a red sports car, a yellow sports car, and a blue family type car and a green and a purple car. I tried to google but dont know the brands or the car models. Can anyone help pls?

  7. We are trying to remember the name of a game where the kids yelled in a tube to make the pieces move down a track. It may have been cows and they may have yelled moo.

  8. TCR or Total Control Racing from Ideal and later Tyco? Little matchbox-sized cars with electric motors in them that ran on electrified magnetic tracks. The one I had actually had part of the track go up along a bedroom wall and come back down. Really awesome toys but the cars had a tendency to fly off the tracks if you took a turn too fast.

  9. Trying to find a toy my siblings and I received in 1990/1991. They were long legged (I think stuffed animals) that came in different animals. My brother got a dinosaur and my sister got a ladybug. My mom remembers the commercial with a kids train going in between the legs of the toy. It came in a yellow box.
