One of the finest examples of truth in advertising, Adventures in Numbers and Space was about just that. Using his puppets Snarky and Gargle, Bil Baird illustrated the history of mankind and simple arithmetic in this nine-part series sponsored by the Westinghouse Broadcast Company.
From basic numerals to computers and binary systems, Baird would explain the subject matter with jokes, stories and songs. An early example of TV "edutainment," Adventures in Numbers and Space helped open up young minds to the wonders of the world around them in a way that was both informative and entertaining.
