The Adventures of the Little Prince

The Adventures of the Little Prince

Synopsis of Saturday Morning Show

Published in 1942, Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s The Little Prince remains a favorite book of young and old alike. In 1978, Jambre/Gallerie International Films Productions created an animated series “not directly based on” Saint-Exupery’s novel, but with the same basic premise. Re-edited and dubbed to English, the series premiered in New York and Los Angeles in 1982, then nationwide on Nickelodeon in 1985.

The Little Prince lived on Asteroid B612 with friends Swiftee the Space Bird and a Rose Girl, who grew from a stray seed. The Prince kept his asteroid happy and clean, watering flowers and sweeping volcanoes, but he couldn’t resist a good adventure. Swiftee taught the boy how to catch a passing comet in a butterfly net, and with that, the Prince began his hitchhiking ride across the galaxy.

At every stop, the Prince made new friends and learned lessons about honesty, bravery, and kindness. The Prince loved to visit earth most of all, but eventually returned to B612 to care for his Rose Girl.
