Those creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky, altogether ooky Addamses returned to television following the success of the 1991 Addams Family feature film. It was the second animated series starring cartoonist Charles Addams’ morbidly funny creations.
John Astin returned to voice the role he helped make famous in the 1960’s TV series, family patriarch Gomez Addams. Together with wife Morticia, daughter Wednesday, son Pugsley, Uncle Fester, wrinkled witch Granny, butler Lurch, hairy Cousin Itt, and disembodied hand Thing, Gomez lived in a spooky mansion in otherwise normal Happydale Heights. The animated show retained the Addams’ ghoulish “alternative lifestyle” and brought in yuppie neighbors the Normanmeyers as comic foils.
Combining off-the-wall antics with creepy Halloween-like fun, The Addams Family charmed its way into homes across the country, earning high ratings for its Saturday morning run.
