The Adventures of Don Coyote and Sancho Panda

The Adventures of Don Coyote and Sancho Panda

Synopsis of Saturday Morning Show

The classic tale of Don Quixote, first published in 1605, has survived through multiple translations, a musical adaptation, and even this animated version, The Adventures of Don Coyote and Sancho Panda.

Like Miguel de Cervantes’ 17th century novel, The Adventures of Don Coyote and Sancho Panda recounted the fantastic adventures of a slightly deluded knight-errant and his loyal sidekick. However, the 1990's version paired a gangly coyote with his sidekick, a paunchy panda.

With the help of Don Coyote’s noble steed, Rocinante, and Sacho Panda’s voice-of-cynicism donkey, Dapple, these crusaders of chivalry rode the countryside fighting for truth, justice, and beauty.

Originally broadcast in 1989 in Europe, The Adventures of Don Coyote and Sancho Panda premiered stateside in 1990 as part of the syndicated package The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera.

The funny, yet meaningful shenanigans of The Adventures of Don Coyote and Sancho Panda proved that some tales are timeless, even when retold by talking cartoon animals.
