Sheena, Queen of the Jungle
Synopsis of Saturday Morning Show
A tall, leggy pin-up girl in a leopard skin outfit, fighting evil deep in the jungle wilds of Africa…What’s not to love? This was the premise of Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, a popular children’s adventure series that may have been even more popular with those children’s dear old dads.
Blonde bombshell Irish McCalla played Sheena, a strong, athletic peacemaker who survived a jungle plane crash as a baby and had lived there ever since. Based on the comic book of the same title, Sheena, Queen of the Jungle had everything kids had come to expect from their jungle adventures: wild animals, voodoo, evil poachers, ivory traders, mysterious idols, etc. With quick instincts and a good heart, Sheena always managed to foil the baddies, save the goodies and make the jungle a safer place for man and beast.
White man trader Bob and Sheena’s chimp sidekick Chim joined the title star on her adventures, but no one stole the spotlight from Sheena. With McCalla in the lead role, Sheena, Queen of the Jungle stirred up a strong interest in its 26-episode syndicated run, and red-blooded males across the country talked to their travel agents about booking an African safari.
