Samson and Goliath
Synopsis of Saturday Morning Show
Samson was a young man with extraordinary powers of biblical proportion. Whenever he was in trouble (which was often), he would rub his magic bracelets together and yell, “I need Samson power!” The resulting effect would give him superhuman strength, while his dog, Goliath, would become a powerful lion who could fly and shoot beams from his eyes (Note: The biblical Samson had no catchphrase or laser-eyed pet lion).
This series was popular mostly for its outlandish settings and unbelievable villains. Since the premise was so outrageous to begin with, the writers were able to push the limits when it came to setting, characters, weapons, and plot lines.
Eventually, the title was changed to Young Samson, because producers were afraid people would confuse the show with the claymation program Davey and Goliath. Anyone who has seen the two shows, however, knows that this was simply impossible.
