Maybe it was the fascination with the 1975 summer thriller Jaws, but whatever the reason, shark’s teeth necklaces became a popular fashion accessory of the 70’s and 80’s. These single teeth—once razor sharp, but eventually dulled by their time in the surf—were worn on strips of leather, tied around the neck for necklaces. When Hawaiian puka shells started to look too wussy for your tastes, the shark tooth necklace was there to keep you styling.
