Remember Gadget Boy and Heather

Gadget Boy and Heather

Synopsis of Saturday Morning Show

DIC Productions’ Gadget Boy and Heather was another cartoon in the grand tradition of Muppet Babies and Tom and Jerry Kids, taking established cartoon characters and made them younger. In this case, the rejuvenated character was Inspector Gadget, the bumbling bionic detective with a knack for getting into all sorts of hilarious trouble.

Instead of his former (future?) sidekick Penny, Gadget Boy was assisted this time around by none other than the resourceful Heather. Just as maladroit as he would become as a grown up, Gadget Boy was usually bailed out of situations by the more practical Heather, though he was also helped greatly by his myriad high-tech gadgets and extendable arms and legs. In the new series, traditional nemesis Dr. Claw was replaced by the villainous villainess Spydra.

Gadget Boy and Heather originally ran as part of the syndicated block Amazin' Adventures II, and like most of its fellow Amazin' shows, only a single season was produced. The characters still had some fight left in them, however, and in 1998, the History Channel aired the all-new Gadget Boy's Adventures in History.
