Pullover tops
Fashion Synopsis
Pullovers were regular knitted tops, but when they were worn ‘pulled-over’ a base top, they earned their new name. T-shirts and short-sleeved sweaters topped big-collared polyester shirts so that the sleeves and collars stuck out.
This was unlike the popular sweater vest that covered your trunk section but left your arms free of constriction. The pullover sleeve banded around your arm, poofing out your sleeve in unflattering bulkiness. Why? Even we here at nostalgia must admit that the look is a little strange, and not a little uncomfortable, but it was undeniably a true part of 70’s childhood. After all, the Brady kids loved it, so why shouldn’t you?
