Synopsis of Saturday Morning Show

"They say the User lives outside the Net and inputs games for pleasure; no one knows for sure, but I intend to find out!"

Imagine if inside your computer, there were little blue and green people hanging out in diners and fighting against viruses and other digital mayhem. This was the idea behind ReBoot, television's first completely computer-generated animated series.

The plotline of ReBoot was as advanced as its animation techniques: Inside a home computer in a digital city called Mainframe, one of the city’s inhabitants must stop an evil virus from spreading before the computer crashes.

Bob was the digital daredevil in the series, sent from the Internet to defend Mainframe from the evil Megabyte, a deadly virus capable of wiping out the entire system’s memory. Assisting Bob were some concerned citizens of Mainframe: a diner manager named Dot Matrix, her younger brother Enzo, a digital dog named Frisket, and an ancient mentor named Phong. Bob had the help of Glitch, a device he wore around his wrist that was capable of performing many chores.

Along with his sidekicks, Hack and Slash, Megabyte wreaked havoc all along the motherboards. Helping him out was his equally corruptive sister, Hexadecimal. As an added complication, games being played by the mystical User would invade the system regularly and had to be defeated, or else portions of the city would be destroyed. This gave audiences a chance to see many types of video games from a very unique perspective—from the point of view of the characters.

Putting an imaginative, playful spin on cyberspace, ReBoot scored with a growing generation of future tech-heads. But despite its high ratings, the show was cancelled when Disney took over the ABC network in 1996. Disappointed fans got some consolation when Claster Television picked ReBoot up, airing the show's reruns in syndication and on the Cartoon Network, eventually even running a third season of ReBoot episodes never seen on ABC. That season left another few loose ends involving the supervirus Daemon, gearing up for a climactic battle in the 2001 made-for-TV movie, ReBoot: Daemon Rising.
