Peppeteer brothers Sid and Marty Krofft’s seaweed-encrusted superstar got the full-on lunchbox treatment with matching plastic thermos in 1974. Aladdin’s Sigmund and the Sea Monsters lunchbox was actually a two-part action scene, just begging to be flipped back and forth as the narrative unfolded. On one side, friendly sea monster Sigmund helped human brothers Johnny and Scott Stuart clean up outside their clubhouse. But trouble was afoot: rounding the bend was Sigmund’s less-friendly sea monster family. Flip the box over, and Johnny suddenly had one of Sigmund’s rotten brothers in a headlock (or a hug, but we’re putting out money on headlock). Would Johnny win the day? Unfortunately, there wasn’t a third side.
