
Somewhere after the knee-high rainbow striped tube socks but before slouch socks, there existed the wacky world of ankle socks. Riding just above the ankle, these socks came in all kind of colors and prints: neon, lace, checkerboard, smiley faced, geometric prints, cartoon faces...
Girls strutted their stuff in lace socks and pumps, and boys wore pastel shorties with Huarachi sandals. There was no rhyme nor reason to the hysteria of the half sock, but they were there, peeking out from underneath your highwater floods, and slipped into penny loafers.
