Bring 'em Back Alive

Bring 'em Back Alive

Synopsis of TV Show

Based on the life of big-game hunter Frank Buck, Bring ‘em Back Alive was more of a way to capitalize on the success of Raiders of the Lost Ark than it was a biographical tale. Buck, who had actually starred as himself in several films of the thirties and forties, was depicted in this series as an adventurer who more often encountered spies and smugglers than he did tigers and lions.

Set in pre-WWII Singapore, the series starred Bruce Boxleitner as the hunky Buck. Gloria Marlowe, who worked at the American consulate in Singapore, often teamed up with Buck in his adventures, as did Buck’s “number one boy” Ali. Also on hand were Buck’s Sultan friend H.H., Bhundi, the villainous G.B. von Turgo, and Myles Delane, who ran the Raffles Hotel where Buck lived.

Bring 'em Back Alive tried to balance cliff-hanging action with good-natured silly fun in the Raiders style, but the results were significantly less successful on the small screen. Like fellow Raiders wannabes The Quest and Tales of the Gold Monkey, Bring 'em Back Alive was dead within a single season.
