In the fall of 1973, Hanna-Barbera’s lovable Yogi Bear returned to the Saturday morning line-up with Yogi’s Gang. This half-hour show, spun off from the ABC Saturday Superstar Movie of the same name, followed the adventures of the "smarter than the av-e-rage bear" and his friends Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw, Magilla Gorilla, Snagglepuss, Wally Gator, Augie Doggie, Boo Boo, Doggie Daddy, Atom Ant and others.
Traveling aboard a hovering ark, Yogi and the gang were on a mission to conquer the evils of society, such as bigotry and cheating. They also educated their young viewers about environmental issues by fighting the dreaded Mr. Smog and Mr. Pollution.
After a sucessful run on Saturday morning, the show entered syndication under the title Yogi Bear and Friends.
