Yankee Doodles

Yankee Doodles

Synopsis of Lunch Box

The entire U.S. of A. was gripped with Bicentennial Fever in 1976, but the wiseacres got to the party a year early. The 1975 Yankee Doodles lunchbox with matching plastic thermos gave American history the ol’ rib-tickling treatment, courtesy of cartoons from the Los Angeles Times. Curious about how that crack ended up in the Liberty Bell? Just ask that guilty-looking youngster with the slingshot behind his back: “Honest, General Washington, it was broke when I got here!” (bad liar, bad grammar… this kid was born for politics).
