Pele

Pele

Synopsis of Lunch Box

By 1975, Pele was a hero in Brazil and one of the most beloved sports figures in the entire world. That same year, he came out of retirement to play for the New York Cosmos until 1977, leading them to a North American championship. Pele's legendary status as the greatest soccer player in the world brought the sport to the United States, and to this day he is credited with keeping the sport alive for Americans. American children played in AYSO soccer leagues accross the country and idolized Pele. In 1975 King Seeley produced this Pele metal lunchbox with matching plastic thermos. The box remains one of a very few from the period that featured a black person as its focus.
