DuckTales: The Movie - Treasure of the Lost Lamp
Synopsis of Movie
Toward the end of the 80’s, a rich Scottish duck, his three nephews and a crash-happy pilot were the hottest thing in kids’ television. With nothing left to conquer but the big screen, the DuckTales crew hit the cinemas for a feature-length adventure, DuckTales: The Movie - Treasure of the Lost Lamp.
Scrooge McDuck may be the richest duck in the world, but it never hurts to put some distance between you and the competition. Together with Huey, Dewey, Louie, little Webbigail and Launchpad McQuack, Scrooge heads off in search of the legendary treasure of Collie Baba. The ducks find the treasure, but it’s taken from them by an evil magician named Merlock.
Scrooge and company escape back to Duckburg, scoring nothing from their adventure but an old lamp. Despite its apparent lameness, the lamp is actually home to a wish-granting genie. It’s all fun and games until Merlock shows up to reclaim the lamp, sending the ducks into one peril after another.
The film was produced under the banner of Disney’s new "Movietoons" division, established to revive the zany style of Disney’s older animated shorts. While the film was no The Little Mermaid, it did help sustain the popularity of the long-running series, which continued on television as part of the Disney Afternoon block.
