The New England island community of Amity is terrorized by a monstrous great white shark. The local police chief, Brody, wants to shut down the beaches, but the town elders fear it will hurt Amity's tourism-based economy. After several deaths, Brody, along with marine biologist Hooper, and crusty fisherman Quint sail out to sea to kill the shark.

A Deformed mistake since birth, a bitter man known only as the Phantom lives in the sewers underneath the Paris Opera House. He falls in love with the obscure chorus singer Christine, and privately tutors her while terrorizing the rest of the opera house and demanding Christine be given lead roles.
